City DescriptionPittsboro is a village in Calhoun County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 212 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Calhoun County.
Pittsboro is located at 33°56′19″N 89°20′19″W / 33.93861, -89.33861 (33.938595, -89.338735).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 212 people, 70 households, and 48 families residing in the village. The population density was 214.1 people per square mile (82.7/km²). There were 83 housing units at an average density of 83.8/sq mi (32.4/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 76.89% White, 21.23% African American, 0.47% from other races, and 1.42% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.42% of the population.
There were 70 households out of which 35.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.4% were married couples living together, 14.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.4% were non-families. 30.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
