    Metcalfe is a town in Washington County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 1,109 at the 2000 census. Metcalfe is located at 33°27′7″N 91°0′10″W / 33.45194, -91.00278 (33.451948, -91.002752). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,109 people, 386 households, and 272 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,110.5 people per square mile (428.2/km²). There were 417 housing units at an average density of 417.5/sq mi (161.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 1.17% White, 97.57% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.36% from other races, and 0.63% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.63% of the population. There were 386 households out of which 44.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 23.3% were married couples living together, 43.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5% were non-families. 27.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
