City DescriptionMarion is a town in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 1,305 at the 2000 census.
Marion is located at 32°25′20″N 88°38′50″W / 32.42222, -88.64722 (32.422182, -88.647323).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.9 square miles (7.6 km²), of which, 2.9 square miles (7.5 km²) of it is land and 0.34% is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,305 people, 468 households, and 324 families residing in the town. The population density was 448.7 people per square mile (173.1/km²). There were 555 housing units at an average density of 190.8/sq mi (73.6/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 52.87% White, 45.82% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.31% Asian, 0.15% from other races, and 0.61% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.69% of the population.
