City DescriptionLouisville is a city in Winston County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 7,006 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Winston County.
Louisville is located at 33°7′23″N 89°3′22″W / 33.12306, -89.05611 (33.122931, -89.056182).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 15.3 square miles (39.7 km²), of which, 15.1 square miles (39.1 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²) of it (1.44%) is water. It is known by many as the "Front porch of the South".
As of the census of 2000, there were 7,006 people, 2,641 households, and 1,817 families residing in the city. The population density was 464.5 people per square mile (179.4/km²). There were 2,884 housing units at an average density of 191.2/sq mi (73.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 46.29% White, 52.46% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 0.44% from other races, and 0.51% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.66% of the population.
