City DescriptionKiln is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hancock County, Mississippi, United States. It is part of the Gulfport–Biloxi, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,040 at the 2000 census.
Kiln is the hometown of New York Jets quarterback Brett Favre.
Kiln is located at 30°24′46″N 89°26′8″W / 30.41278, -89.43556 (30.412874, -89.435417).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 13.5 square miles (34.9 km²), of which, 13.3 square miles (34.5 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²) of it (0.97%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,040 people, 782 households, and 570 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 153.1 people per square mile (59.1/km²). There were 987 housing units at an average density of 74.1/sq mi (28.6/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 95.98% White, 2.60% African American, 0.29% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.10% from other races, and 0.74% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.52% of the population.
