City DescriptionGunnison is a town in Bolivar County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 633 at the 2000 census.
Gunnison is located at 33°56′33″N 90°56′46″W / 33.9425, -90.94611 (33.942627, -90.946085).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 10.0 square miles (2.6 km²), of which, 9.0 square miles (2.5 km²) of it is land and 1.0 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (3.00%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 633 people, 202 households, and 146 families residing in the town. The population density was 651.1 people per square mile (252.0/km²). There were 217 housing units at an average density of 223.2/sq mi (86.4/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 12.64% White, 86.73% African American, 0.16% Native American, and 0.47% from two or more races.
