City DescriptionFalkner is a town in Tippah County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 212 at the 2000 census. The town was named for William Clark Falkner, the great-grandfather of author William Faulkner.
Falkner is located at 34°50′37″N 88°56′0″W / 34.84361, -88.93333 (34.843638, -88.933358).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.7 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 213 people, 85 households, and 62 families residing in the town. The population density was 199.1 people per square mile (77.2/km²). There were 90 housing units at an average density of 84.5/sq mi (32.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.64% White, 0.94% African American, 0.94% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.83% of the population.
There were 85 households out of which 31.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.2% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.9% were non-families. 23.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
