City DescriptionDiamondhead is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hancock County, Mississippi, United States. It is part of the Gulfport–Biloxi, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 5,912 at the 2000 census.
Diamondhead is located at 30°23′0″N 89°22′22″W / 30.38333, -89.37278 (30.383444, -89.372660).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 11.7 square miles (30.3 km²), of which, 11.3 square miles (29.4 km²) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.0 km²) of it (3.16%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 5,912 people, 2,559 households, and 1,916 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 521.5 people per square mile (201.3/km²). There were 3,084 housing units at an average density of 272.1/sq mi (105.0/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 95.35% White, 1.78% African American, 0.41% Native American, 0.88% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.47% from other races, and 1.08% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.94% of the population.
