City DescriptionZimmerman is a city in Sherburne County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,851 at the 2000 census.
U.S. Route 169 serves as a main arterial route in the city.
Every year in Zimmerman, there is a parade called the Wild West Days Parade. This includes a small carnival near Highway 169, and, of course, a parade. This parade usually includes about 250 of the Middle/High School's 400 band students (including the amazing Zimmerman High School Drumline), the fire department from Zimmerman and surrounding areas. There is also homecoming royalty from other surrounding towns attending and in the parade.
There are currently three school buildings in Zimmerman. One is the oldest in the town, Zimmerman Elementary School. This is celebrating its 50th anniversary of operation in 2007. It currently houses grades K-2. The other elementary school, Westwood Elementary School, is located west of the other elementary school. It is one of the most energy efficient schools in the country. It has earned many awards for this, and a spot on the local news for its extremely small energy bills.
