City DescriptionWanamingo is a city in Goodhue County, Minnesota, United States, along the North Fork of the Zumbro River. The population was 1,007 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.8 km²), all of it land.
Minnesota State Highways 57 and 60 are two of the main routes in the city.
U.S. Route 52 is nearby.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,007 people, 404 households, and 273 families residing in the city. The population density was 919.4 people per square mile (353.5/km²). There were 411 housing units at an average density of 375.2/sq mi (144.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.71% White, 0.40% Asian, and 0.89% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.20% of the population.
There were 404 households out of which 32.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.4% were married couples living together, 5.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.4% were non-families. 28.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
