City DescriptionVernon Center is a city in Blue Earth County, Minnesota, along the Blue Earth River. The population was 359 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Mankato–North Mankato Metropolitan Statistical Area.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.5 square miles (1.3 km²), all of it land.
U.S. Route 169 serves as a main route in the community.
As of the census of 2000, there were 359 people, 132 households, and 99 families residing in the city. The population density was 727.2 people per square mile (282.9/km²). There were 137 housing units at an average density of 277.5/sq mi (108.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.72% White and 0.28% Pacific Islander. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.39% of the population.
There were 132 households out of which 40.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.9% were married couples living together, 4.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.0% were non-families. 22.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.14.
