City DescriptionSpicer is a city in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,126 at the 2000 census. Spicer is known for being a tourist location which draws visitors to Green Lake, Sibley State Park, and other surrounding lakes, as well as for it's lakeside cottages and campgrounds. Due to its proximity to Green Lake and other lakes, the community is likely to experience future population growth, which is unlike the population decline experienced by other surrounding West Central Minnesota communities.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.8 km²), of which, 1.1 square miles (2.8 km²) of it is land and 0.92% is water. Minnesota State Highway 23 serves as a main route in the city, and U.S. Route 71 is nearby.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,126 people, 5000 households, and 1 family residing in the city. The population density was 1,038.4 people per square mile (402.5/km²). There were 605 housing units at an average density of 557.9/sq mi (216.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.76% White, 0.18% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.36% from other races, and 0.44% from two or more ...
