City Description

Plummer is a city in Red Lake County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 270 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.3 km²), all of it land. At the 2000 census, there were 270 people, 125 households and 71 families in the city. The population density was 95.3 per square mile (36.8/km²). There were 130 housing units at an average density of 45.9/sq mi (17.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.89% White, 0.74% African American and 0.37% Native American. There were 125 households of which 23.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.0% were married couples living together, 7.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 42.4% were non-families. 37.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 23.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.16 and the average family size was 2.89. The age distribution was 22.6% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 23.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years.
