City DescriptionPlato is a city in McLeod County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 336 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.9 km²), all of it land.
U.S. Route 212 serves as a main route in the community.
As of the census of 2000, there were 336 people, 144 households, and 99 families residing in the city. The population density was 985.0 people per square mile (381.6/km²). There were 145 housing units at an average density of 425.1/sq mi (164.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.81% White, 0.60% Asian, and 0.60% from two or more races.
There were 144 households out of which 29.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.1% were married couples living together, 7.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.3% were non-families. 22.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.33 and the average family size was 2.76.
