City DescriptionOlivia is a city in Renville County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,570 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Renville County.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 km²), all of it land.
U.S. Routes 71 and 212 are two of the main routes in the city.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,570 people, 1,075 households, and 658 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,102.7 people per square mile (425.9/km²). There were 1,178 housing units at an average density of 505.4/sq mi (195.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.19% White, 0.12% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 2.57% from other races, and 0.89% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.63% of the population.
There were 1,075 households out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.2% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.7% were non-families. 35.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
