City DescriptionNorthrop is a city in Martin County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 262 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 262 people, 104 households, and 79 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,747.4 people per square mile (674.4/km²). There were 111 housing units at an average density of 740.3/sq mi (285.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.62% White and 0.38% Asian. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.38% of the population.
There were 104 households out of which 32.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.3% were married couples living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.0% were non-families. 22.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 2.96.
