City DescriptionNew Germany is a city in Carver County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 346 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.7 km²), all of it land. County Roads 30 and 33 are two of the main routes. State Highway 7 is in close proximity to the city.
As of the census of 2000, there were 346 people, 143 households, and 94 families residing in the city. The population density was 528.9 people per square mile (205.5/km²). There were 147 housing units at an average density of 224.7/sq mi (87.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.69% White, 0.87% African American, 0.29% Native American, and 1.16% from two or more races.
There were 143 households out of which 27.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.9% were married couples living together, 5.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.6% were non-families. 32.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 2.98.
