Minnesota State Highway 34 serves as a main arterial route in the community.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), of which, 0.9 square miles (2.4 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (7.84%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 364 people, 162 households, and 109 families residing in the city. The population density was 388.9 people per square mile (149.5/km²). There were 199 housing units at an average density of 212.6/sq mi (81.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.98% White, 1.10% Native American, 0.27% from other races, and 1.65% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.65% of the population.
There were 162 households out of which 26.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.2% were married couples living together, 9.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.1% were non-families. 29.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
