City DescriptionNaytahwaush is a census-designated place (CDP) in Mahnomen County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 583 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 19.8 square miles (51.2 km²), of which, 19.5 square miles (50.4 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.8 km²) of it (1.57%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 583 people, 166 households, and 124 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 30.0 people per square mile (11.6/km²). There were 173 housing units at an average density of 8.9/sq mi (3.4/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 5.15% White, 0.86% African American, 91.25% Native American, 0.34% from other races, and 2.40% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.89% of the population.
There were 166 households out of which 52.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 31.3% were married couples living together, 34.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.7% were non-families. 18.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
