City DescriptionMendota Heights is a city in Dakota County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 11,434 at the 2000 census. Henry Sibley High School, Convent of the Visitation, the only all girls high school in the state, and Saint Thomas Academy all boys school are located here. Mendota Heights is also home to the main campus of Brown College.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.1 square miles (26.1 km²), of which, 9.4 square miles (24.2 km²) of it is land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km²) of it (7.05%) is water.
Interstate Highway 35E, Interstate Highway 494, Minnesota Highways 55 and 110 are four of the main routes in the city.
The mayor of Mendota Heights is John J. Huber. The previous mayor, Charles E. Mertensotto was in office for 8 consecutive terms, and prior there to served on the Mendota Heights city council for 14 years. Mertensotto was responsible for the establishment of Mendakota Park and a major percent of the city's growth.
