City Description

Lowry is a city in Pope County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 271 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.0 km²), all of it land. Minnesota State Highways 55 and 114 are two of the main routes in the community. As of the census of 2000, there were 271 people, 110 households, and 76 families residing in the city. The population density was 729.7 people per square mile (282.8/km²). There were 122 housing units at an average density of 328.5/sq mi (127.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.68% White, 1.48% Native American, 0.37% from other races, and 1.48% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.74% of the population. There were 110 households out of which 30.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.3% were married couples living together, 8.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.9% were non-families. 27.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
