City DescriptionLester Prairie is a city in McLeod County, Minnesota, United States, along the South Fork of the Crow River. The population was 1,377 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.9 km²), all of it land. County Highways 1, 9, and 23 are the main routes in the community. Minnesota State Highway 7 is in close proximity to the city.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,377 people, 516 households, and 379 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,910.4 people per square mile (738.4/km²). There were 531 housing units at an average density of 736.7/sq mi (284.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.68% White, 0.07% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 1.89% from other races, and 0.29% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.94% of the population.
There were 516 households out of which 38.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.2% were married couples living together, 7.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.4% were non-families. 22.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or ...
