City DescriptionLakeland is a city in Washington County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,917 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.9 square miles (7.6 km²), of which, 2.1 square miles (5.4 km²) of it is land and 0.8 square miles (2.1 km²) of it (27.99%) is water. Interstate 94 and Minnesota State Highway 95 are two of the main routes in the community. Lakeland is located in the St. Croix River Valley.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,917 people, 691 households, and 556 families residing in the city. The population density was 910.9 people per square mile (352.5/km²). There were 705 housing units at an average density of 335.0/sq mi (129.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.55% White, 0.26% Native American, 0.37% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 1.51% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.04% of the population.
