City DescriptionKiester is a city in Faribault County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 540 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.1 km²), all of it land.
Minnesota State Highway 22 and County Highway 2 are two of the main routes in the community.
As of the census of 2000, there were 540 people, 254 households, and 161 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,217.0 people per square mile (473.9/km²). There were 278 housing units at an average density of 626.5/sq mi (243.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.89% White, 0.19% African American, 0.19% Asian, 0.74% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.85% of the population.
There were 254 households out of which 22.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.9% were married couples living together, 5.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.6% were non-families. 35.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 21.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.13 and the average family size was 2.69.
