City DescriptionKeewatin is a city in Itasca County, Minnesota, USA. The population was 1,164 at the 2000 census.
U.S. Route 169 serves as a main arterial route in the city.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.9 square miles (7.5 km²), of which, 2.5 square miles (6.4 km²) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.1 km²) of it (14.93%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,164 people, 522 households, and 306 families residing in the city. The population density was 473.7 people per square mile (182.7/km²). There were 550 housing units at an average density of 223.8/sq mi (86.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.77% White, 0.34% African American, 0.34% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.09% from other races, and 1.03% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.09% of the population.
There were 522 households out of which 27.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.1% were married couples living together, 10.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.2% were non-families. 36.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
