City DescriptionKandiyohi is a city in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 555 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km²), all of it land.
U.S. Route 12 serves as a main route in the community.
As of the census of 2000, there were 555 people, 215 households, and 147 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,754.2 people per square mile (669.6/km²). There were 228 housing units at an average density of 720.7/sq mi (275.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.84% White, 0.54% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.90% from other races, and 0.36% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.62% of the population.
There were 215 households out of which 40.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.2% were married couples living together, 7.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% were non-families. 24.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.09.
