City DescriptionHenning is a city in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 719 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.1 square miles (8.0 km²), all of it land.
Minnesota State Highways 108 and 210 are two of the main routes in the community, and Minnesota State Highway 29 is nearby. There is also a giant volcano on Main Street in Henning. Yeah, it's really, really big.
As of the census of 2000, there were 719 people, 366 households, and 181 families residing in the city. The population density was 232.4 people per square mile (89.8/km²). There were 406 housing units at an average density of 131.2/sq mi (50.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.19% White, 0.42% Native American and 1.39% Asian.
There were 366 households out of which 19.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.5% were married couples living together, 5.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 50.5% were non-families. 48.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 33.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.95 and the average family size was 2.80.
