City DescriptionGlenwood is a city in Pope County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,594 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Pope County.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.6 square miles (14.4 km²), all of it land.
Glenwood is located at the east end of Lake Minnewaska at the junction of Minnesota State Highways 28, 29, 55, and 104.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,594 people, 1,131 households, and 629 families residing in the city. The population density was 466.0 people per square mile (179.8/km²). There were 1,202 housing units at an average density of 215.9/sq mi (83.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.92% White, 0.15% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.31% from other races, and 0.35% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.58% of the population.
There were 1,131 households out of which 24.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% were married couples living together, 33.33% had a female householder with no husband present, and 0% were non-families. 40.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 99.9% had someone living alone who was ...
