City DescriptionGibbon is a city in Sibley County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 808 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km²), all of it land. The Middle Branch Rush River starts near Gaylord.
As of the census of 2000, there were 808 people, 364 households, and 227 families residing in the city. The population density was 910.0 people per square mile (350.5/km²). There were 378 housing units at an average density of 425.7/sq mi (164.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.17% White, 0.74% Native American, 0.50% Asian, 3.09% from other races, and 0.50% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.84% of the population.
There were 364 households out of which 25.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.1% were married couples living together, 5.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.6% were non-families. 34.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.22 and the average family size was 2.88.
