City DescriptionEllendale is a city in Steele County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 590 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km²), all of it land.
Minnesota State Highway 30 and Interstate 35 are two of the main routes in the community.
As of the census of 2000, there were 590 people, 252 households, and 166 families residing in the city. The population density was 662.8 people per square mile (256.0/km²). There were 260 housing units at an average density of 292.1/sq mi (112.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.98% White, 0.34% Asian, 0.34% from other races, and 0.34% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.36% of the population.
There were 252 households out of which 30.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.6% were married couples living together, 7.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.1% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.90.
