Minnesota State Highway 38 serves as a main route in the community. Minnesota State Highways 1 and 6 are nearby.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.8 mi² (4.7 km²). 1.8 mi² (4.6 km²) of it is land and 0.04 mi² (0.1 km²) of it (1.66%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 469 people, 208 households, and 110 families residing in the city. The population density was 263.5 people per square mile (101.7/km²). There were 226 housing units at an average density of 127.0/sq mi (49.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.65% White, 1.71% Native American, 0.21% from other races, and 0.43% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.07% of the population.
