    Question:
i live in michigan in the middle of the thumb have really nice home must be free will pick up if close brown city michigan

    Answer:
Hi Woody, You are going to have a very hard time finding a declawed/neutered cat free, and especially hard when you add the fluffy requirement in there. However, if you are willing to pay about $30 - $50 to save a cat's life, adopting one would be great. It will probably adore you for forever for rescuing it too. They would probably have a cat just like you're looking for. However - if you can't afford to buy a cat, you probably can't afford to keep a cat. Try http://www.petfinder.com to find an animal to adopt.

Caring for a baby bird in SE Michigan-sparrow or finch?
    Question:
Hope somebody can help with this. Yesterday I noticed my small dog barking at something at the base of a 20 foot tall tree on the property. The object turned out to be a baby bird. I am not sure what kind of bird it is. The bird is able to fly but only about 6 inches off the ground. Appears healthy but is smaller than a gold ball. It has a tan colored belly, a light brown head/and halfway down its back, and black highlights on it's feathers. It also has very small white baby type of feathers on it's head in some spots, a grey bill, and has been making the same chriping sound all day. Maybe calling for it's mama. Also has pink feet/legs. I have put it in a cage with a paroqueete and put finch food and pedialite on the floor level for it but I don't think it is/knows how to- eat on it's own. I can't find a nest in the tree either. What should I do or whom can I call. I called city hall but they were no help. Thank you for your knowledge.

    Answer:
This sounds like a fledgling..a bird that has left the nest on it's own and is being cared for by the parents until it can fly. You need to replace the bird where you found it (preferably in a tree or scrub where it is relatively safe from predators) Keep your dog away from the area. You can watch from afar to see if parents are coming to feed. If they see you nearby they will not come..also visits can be quick so don't look away. IF you are absolutely SURE this bird is abandoned, you will need to get it to a wildlife rehab near you for it's best chance of survival. Keep in mind, having this bird in your possession is against the law..even though you may have good intentions. Please look up a rehab here if you need one: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact.htm

Do Police Need to TASER People For Wearing Baseball hats?
    Question:
There is a new rule at Saginaw (Michigan) City Council meetings. Men are required to take their hats off. Evidently, they are pretty serious about this new rule. A Saginaw Valley State University student was TASERed after he refused to take off his baseball cap. Officer Doug Stacer of the Saginaw Police Department asked him to remove the hat. The man raised his voice and did not remove the hat. As the officer grabbed the hat and pushed the man to the ground, the man tried to kick Saginaw Police Chief Gerald Cliff, who was coming to help out. At that point, Stacer TASERed the man, which sends 50,000 volts into a person's body. Cliff and Stacer got help from Saginaw County Sheriff Charles Brown hauling the man off to jail. http://abclocal.go.com/wjrt/story?section=local&id=4738161 W hen the MAN tells you to take your hat off, should you do it? What if it were you? I disagree "stung4eve..." The police should be allowed to tell you he doesnt like your shoes and push you on the ground. When you fight back, you are fighting against a police state....not the police. "stung4eve..." Its not a LAW. Its a rule. BIG difference when your being zapped.

    Answer:
wow...scary..I am amazed...this cannot be a security issue can it? My boy's high school has the same rule and of a crowd of 100 or so during a meet the teachers day (I took off an hour from work and came straight there) the principal singled me out in the back row and said that hats were not allowed...i think he expected me to immediately take it off, but i just looked at him...if he taken the issue any further i would have walked out...this is a small town. I searched for the Saginaw michigan police department site and sent them an e-mail saying how manly they were for bringing violence to this terrible hat wearer. I'll agree that the man was tassered for resisting, but the police officer had no right to touch the man in the first place. If it was a security issue, like hiding a gun or something...he could have hidden a heavy pistol a lot easier in his pocket,,,it cannot be aa security issue...but whatever, it should have at least been explained bvefore the officer grabbed the man's possessions and person

I live in traverse city, michigan and I have lived here in an apartment with my bf for almost a year. about a month or so ago I noticed in the bathtub that there was a little bug that looked like a tick. I killed it and it crushed fairly easily. My brother was over and said it wasn't a tick since i crushed it. it was small and a dark brown color and it looked like a tick. We keep our apartment clean but I have no idea what they are and if they are harmful. next time i see one i am going to take a picture and post it up. but any ideas?? There are quite a few trees surrounding where i live.. might it have to do with that?

    Answer:
Hi fellow michigander :) (Im lower southeast--near detroit) I found this website for you, so you may be able to identify what kind of bug it is. But I wouldnt worry too much. Bugs are always going to find their way in somehow :) I find a new one i swear each day. I have vowed to only kill spiders if they crawl out in front of me though because they catch and eat all of the other bugs that get in! Good luck http://www.pestcontrolcanada.com/Questions/What%20is%20th is%20pest.htm

    Answer:
As a lifetime resident of Detroit, I'll tell you that you're not really gonna find a lot of what you're looking for in Greektown. That's a much better place for bars and restaurants. I recommend taking a drive down to some of the suburbs such as Farmington Hills, Troy, or even Auburn Hills. They have some of the most upscale and varied malls - 12 Oaks, Somerset, and Great Lakes Crossing. I can tell you that if you want something similar to your pictures, find a DOTS store. I always pass by their store and see the 'tattoo' style sweatpants. They are also inexpensive, a lot of stuff is less than $20. You might also want to see Oakland Mall, which is not as upscale but has other stores [I've only been there a couple times, but from my memory I know they have a DEB store which sells items that you are looking for.] Lastly, Fairlane Mall in Dearborn is large and close to Detroit. It has a large variety, but is not far like 12 Oaks or GLC.

    Answer:
Obviously, you're using your text-message language skills, rather than the English comp you'll need for the SAT. :-) This depends *very* much on your style of learning and your academic interests. If you want to be doing grunt-work portions of research on a team by the time you graduate, then you're certainly working on the correct list. Large schools have a wider variety of opportunities, although you can easily get lost in the shuffle. If you are comfortable digging up information on your own from day 1, info on everything from how to get out-of-stock textbooks to who besides your instructor can help you with a 2-minute homework question; if you revel in the 400-seat lecture hall with a prof who's published 5 textbooks, if you can find your way through 20,000 other people to your version of success, then the large university is your place. If, on the other hand, you need an occasional external kick-start, or if direct access to a tenured prof and familiar faces everywhere is your thing, then you might consider a smaller school. Grab a copy of "40 Colleges that Change Lives", and see whether the self-determination is the way you want to grow. If it is, I can recommend many of the small colleges in the upper midwest (Associated Colleges of the Midwest, including Cornell, Beloit, Knox, Augustana, U of Chicago, Ripon, ...) and the Claremont consortium in SoCal (Claremont, Pomona, Scripps, Harvey Mudd, ...) In between, you might want a university branch campus. For instance, UW-Oshkosh has an excellent undergrad business program, and is about 1/4 the size of Madison. I don't know that I've been a lot of help, but feel free to send me a message.

what kind of spider is this???
    Question:
my grandma lives in michigan, in the city..and she has a large back yard with trees, flowers, bushes, etc. and every year around july & august these big spiders come and they make these huge webs that look so pretty and it seems like the webs are made over night, cause one day there will be no web, then the next morning there will be a big web in a place where it is rarely touched, like in my grandmas garage windows or in between trash cans on her back patio. the spiders have a huge rear end [butt/torso] and theyre legs are like an off/white tan color stiped w/ black. and theyre usually a light brown/tan/ or off white color. i asked this question a few times before, and alot of people told me it was called and Orb Weaver spider, but all the pictures i've seen of this spider look remotley like it...but its not enough for me to be postitive that its THAT kind of spider. i dont have any pictures. but does anyone know what kind of spider this is FOR SURE?? also...is it venomous, and other interesting facts about it?

    Answer:
There are LOTS of orb weavers. Over 3,500 worldwide. Yours sounds like the very common Arboreal Orb Weaver. If so, then they are harmless, and fun to watch as they spin their large webs each night. I have one outside my front door right now. These rather large and often hairy spiders are common in open woods, brushy fields, in tall grass areas, and around fenceposts and buildings. The average size is 8mm; the male is slightly smaller. Neoscona species have a slightly triangular-ovate abdomen with a light mid-band pattern that resembles an upside-down spruce tree. On each side of this mid-line may be back, brown and greenish-brown markings. The legs usually are gray with brown rings. The carapace may be gray with brown marking. Araneus may be similarly marked and colored, though some are quite showy and less hairy. This orb weaver has the peculiar habit of destroying and rebuilding its inconspicuous web every day. It starts to rebuild the web in the late afternoon and destroys it during the night. Diet consists mainly of nocturnal moths and other insects such as crane flies.

    Answer:
This looks good as a whole but there are a few things to take into consideration. 1. Pittsburgh has expressed a huge ammount of intrest in Darelle Revis and he will not slip to the Pats. 2. In that case Polouszny slips to the Bengals and Beason will go to the Patriots as their Linebackers are getting old. 3. Tampa loves Calvin way too much and I personall see them swapping picks with the Lions to insure they get him. Lions will then take Gaines Adams. 4. Joe Staley may go to the Chiefs if you see them taking a lineman, Joe Staley is my personal pick, but they really could use a #1 receiver. Meachum, Bowe, and Ginn all possiblities. 5. I dont know why but teams love to take TE's too ealry so the Pathers or Green Bay may reach for Greg Olsen. 6. The Eagles have no real needs and will go with the best player on the board. So good call there, although they may want to add stability to an injury prone line. *** Frayne its 3 wideouts in 5 years . . . Mike Williams, Roy Williams, and Charles Rogers. Harrington and Ernie Sims went somewhere in between.
