City DescriptionBloomfield Hills is a city in Oakland County of the U.S. state of Michigan, 10 miles (16 km) northwest of Detroit (18 miles from downtown Detroit). As of the 2000 census, the city population was 3,940. Bloomfield Hills consistently ranks as one of the top five wealthiest cities in the United States with population between 2,500 to 9,999 — it currently is listed at the number four position and in 1990 it was ranked number two, and has the highest income of any city outside of California or Florida. The median income for a family is over $200,000. 49% of houses in Bloomfield Hills have a value of over $1,000,000.
As of the census of 2000, there were 3,940 people, 1,520 households, and 1,167 families residing in the city. The population density was 796.4 per square mile (307.3/km²). There were 1,628 housing units at an average density of 329.1/sq mi (127.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 90.69% White, 1.65% Black, 0.10% Native American, 6.57% Asian, 0.25% from other races, and 0.74% from two or more races. I havent been there in years, but I'm pretty sure there is a big hill open for sledding behind the W.B. Library (main branch). Drive to the back of the parking lot on the right side as you approach the building... it's back there somewhere. But yeah, there's always the hill at Sorrow's and that one is good.

I live in Clarkston and I always thought that was so strange that they make you get only that type of sign, but I have to admit, there is a certain appeal to not having bright colors all over the place.

Well since I go to the school here we go;
Yes it is a very nice school with a lot of rich kids as some have stated, but honestly a lot of them are nice. The educational part is very difficult. Overall I like the school, I'll be a senior next year and it will be my only my fourth year. They offer school starting at pre-k and the people who are what we call "lifers" (hence the fact they've gone there all their life) are really smart.

I currently live in a suburb of Detroit, Mi called Farmington Hills, Mi. The community is very diverse and culturally stimulating. I have also lived in Southfield, Mi which is also very diverse & culturally stimulating. I would like some info from people who have relocated from the Southfield, Farmington, Farmington Hills or West Bloomfield,Michigan area to Arizona. Who could tell me where are there nice suburbs to live in the Arizona area Phoenix, Mesa, Lake Havasu - any other suggestions??? i moved from ann arbor to tempe about two years ago. housing costs are rising pretty quickly here, but i don't know what your budget is - you can find decent housing for around $1200 a month in some of the burbs. if you pay less, you're going to be in crime-ridden neighborhoods, so scope out the places good before you head out. my place is a bit over $1200 & we've been having a few stolen cars in the area, so even in the better places it's getting bad. you want "culturally stimulating" in arizona? it's not going to happen. its pretty much all white & hispanic in most places with pockets of black neighborhoods. i've found arizona to be very segregated. it's funny, you can drive down a few blocks and see the people & know what city you are in. anyway, i'd say tempe has the closest thing to what you are looking for. they are a university town, so there is at least some diversity & they try to be cultural with their programs. as far as meeting other michiganders - well, i go out all the time in my red wings jersey & i'm always meeting others from michigan. i don't know of any groups, but in time you'll come across tons of us. sorry i sound so negative, it's just that i came from very liberal ann arbor to this bland conservative state & i'm not as happy with the lifestyle, but i DO love arizona for it's weather & the friends i've made.

If you like Novi and Farmington Hills and are 21-26, I suggest;
The post bar for a typical bar with dancing
While your are at the post, you will see several other places to hang out on that street.
You should also try 5th avenue billiards if you're up for pool and hanging out.
If you are 27-35 I suggest;
Dirty Martini above Second City - In fact, you can go to Second city for comedy and then to the dirty martini for mingling afterwards. The crowd is mostly gentrified, but its a good adult time no matter what your demographic is.
There is also a entertainment district of Novi that has a small h**ters, Emagine theater - a theater that sells alcohol, and a place called tequilla rain upstairs.
To be honest with you, bloomfield/farmington hills, are more money and family oriented, and probably wouldn't be suitable for a fun birthday night out.
If you are older than 35, you can try the manhattan club or Andiamo's restuarant which is downstairs from second city and dirty martini. If you are older than 35, you may also want to consider hanging on the strip in Royal Oak as is has quite a few nice restaurants and hangouts suitable for many ages.

Fun activites for 2 boys ages 13 and 16?

we are both really into playing sports, both are on a budget and we live in Bloomfield Hills Michigan. and we both know from experiance there isnt much to do here besides swimming and playing basketball. which gets old really quick when your doing it everyday for the whole summer. if there are any ideas out there, we will try anything we can to get out and have fun. so please leave an answer.

we go to power house 5 time a week. and YES the 13 yo. is allowed to go. Paintball is expensive.

it is one of the more upscale suburban developments in oakland county, which is the third wealthiest county in the US. it is an area most locals refer to as "new money," meaning people who don't come from wealthy families, but either won their money or are the first generation of wealth in their family. there are lots of large homes, but most residents do not live their whole life there. the area is known for its good schools, nice golf courses and "exclusivity." there are also more upscale super markets and "luxurious" businesses, like spas. it is a very nice area, and the crime rate is quite low, although in recent years there has been an insurgence of crime in the area, which is attributed to the decline of the economy in Michigan. hope this helped!
