I live in Alpena Michigan & have a very low income I have been having hard time finding low cost car insuranse Question: I was wondering if any body could tell me any places I may try, Thank you
Answer:
I'm not sure what you consider low cost car insurance. Some of this would depend upon your driving record and type and model of vehicle.
Some companies offer discounts for drivers 18 to 25 with an income within their specific range.
My one son was able to save with Costco's insurance programs. I'm not sure which company or how reliable they are, but it may be worth checking. Website is below with phone number.

Military Aircraft that went down in Michigan? Question: Near Alpena, Michigan, there was a military aircraft that went down in the 1970's. I am trying to locate exactly where it went down.
Anyone know?
Supposely, there was a path cleared to locate the plane, and attempt a rescue. but looking at sattelite imagery, there does seem to be a path, one from Nicholson Hill road across to Wolf Creek. I assume the plane crashed somewhere in there? ive gone to explore, but it was just to swampy. i know the alpena news covered the story, more as a anniversary, and a tribute to the victims, but when i search their archives online, i dont get a match.
Answer:
i would say call the nearest air base, which would probably be battle creek air national gaurd base. ask them about what you want and they should be able to either direct you to right person or where you can get information.

Trying to find WWII army buddy's phone number--Lloyd Lacrosse, 1325 Lakeview Drive, Alpena, Michigan?
Answer:
Alpena is a very small town...beautiful, too. If he lives there, then simply send him a card and enclose your phone number, encouraging him to call you or write back. Even if he's moved, the post office will continue forwarding his mail for 18 months. But in good conscience, we can't post his phone number on an international message board where people from 6 continents read messages all day long. Who knows how someone might misuse that information...

How are the fall colors in Michigan's Northeastern Lower Peninsula right now? Question: I'm thinking of visitting some place in the north eastern part of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Anywhere from Cheboygan to Alpena to Tawas. They say the fall colors peak there in late September to early October, but I'm not sure that's true for this year (2007). So how are things there now and where is a good place to see spectacular fall colors?
Answer:
The areas that you speak of and in the "rolling country"
from Mancelona up to Charlevoix and that general area
are usually pretty good ,think they may have just started
but haven't had a projection on the "peak" times yet.
Think you're a tad early.
Haven't done so yet, but think a beautiful view would be
from the sleeping bear dunes back towards Glen Lake
and the surrounding area. It's a nice woodsy drive from the
dunes South to at least Frankfort.

Where is a nice, romantic lodge and/or restaurant in Northern Michigan? Question: I'm looking for a nice, preferably rustic place to stay in the northeastern part of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, or possibly just over the bridge to the U.P. I know about Mackinac Island, but I was thinking something a bit more rustic. We may not have enough time to get too far into the U.P. Also, I need the name of a nice place to eat for the night of our 20th anniversary. Again, nothing too fancy, we're more simple folks than that, but definitely something nice, once again rustic, and with great food. Even just a really nice bar and grill would be fine. We're thinking about places like Cheboygan, Alpena, or any point in between. Even farther south like Harrisville or Tawas. We've never been to any of those places but are looking for spectacular natural scenery, maybe hike a little bit, etc. We've been just about everywhere else in Michigan except that northeastern quarter of the L.P. and we want to do something "new" to us. Also would like to see some lighthouses.
Answer:
Well if your anniversary is between the 4th of october and the 21st there is a train ride that goes from mt. pleasant to cadillac for the fall colors. They also have dinner trains available, that go on nearly all year round. It would be something unforgetable, unique and in my view romanic. The dinner train also takes off from Petoskey. Congrats on makin it 20 years!
