Savvy is a comfortable space. It is a small neighborhood salon. It isn't fancy-schmancy at all. You might see all the good reviews and expect a swank place, but that isn't the kind of place this is. It's comfy, like a familiar pair of jeans. What people are raving about is that the stylists are skilled, friendly, extremely attentive and down-to-earth and the work they do is consistently good. It is what it is, and what it is is good! I have been coming in to Savvy for highlights and haircuts for nearly 5 years. After buying a house I needed to find a less expensive alternative to my previous salon. I think it's ironic that I'm paying less money for what turns out to be a more relaxing experience for me. These hairdressers are never inconvenienced by anything you ask. They don't talk down to you or converse with each other as if you aren't even there, which is something I've experienced in other salons I've tried. I always walk out of there refreshed but still feeling like myself. One thing I know for sure is that if you let them know if you aren't happy with your cut or color, they are more than happy to make any adjustment you need. I've gone back to get my hair cut shorter or tweaked a little a couple of times in the years that I've been going there. It wasn't a problem, the adjustment was made, and I remain a satisfied customer. Not letting them know if you aren't happy and then writing a negative review is passive-aggressive and nothing short of a cheap shot. There's definitely evidence of some of that behavior here online. The stylists at Savvy are cautious and they stay on the safe side. That has been reassuring to keep in mind. All you ever have to do is speak up, let your wishes be known and they'll be receptive to you. These are people that are very, very easy to talk to. Also, if you expect a life-changing experience or want the red carpet/rock star/princess/super model transformation, this really might not be your salon. This is more a place for people who are looking for wash and wear, low maintenance, artfully crafted haircuts that last and grow in well. If you're high maintenance or accustomed to high-end accoutrements, this place is simple and basic so it very likely won't live up to the same expectations you might have for the type of upscale salon more suited to your taste. The casual atmosphere always feels welcoming, the staff is friendly and professional. You don't have to dress up to go there. I just had to add my two cents because the folks at Savvy have been very good to me over the years. Helen does my very natural looking highlights and my simple haircut. I've had the other stylists fill in for haircuts if she's busy and there's no odd feeling of disloyalty that I've had at other salons when my usual stylist at the time was unavailable. The facial waxing has come in handy, too. Everyone there is great. You really should try these guys. They're just the kind of stylists you'd expect to find in the People's Republic of Cambridge!

What can I say about one of the best sub shops in this state? A huge menu with pretty much everything you can think of. Everything is fresh and made to order. Owner and Operator Jimmy Demotropoulos has proven himself as quite the chef. He makes a honey mustard that is out of this world that goes perfectly with the incredible chicken fingers. People come from all over just for his famous chicken fingers and line up for his Honey Mustard. The steak and cheese subs are incredible as well as his greek style pizzas with so many different choices of toppings than I have ever seen. It is worth a trip to the Fresh Pond area of Cambridge to experience this awesome food!!! Friendly and quick service make that trip a must!!! Five stars all the way!

While most Cantabridgians associate donuts with the ubiquitous chain, Dunkin Donuts, Verna's makes the best donuts I've ever had. While all are good, the glazed are melt-in-your-mouth fantastic. If you're doing breakfast or a snack in North Cambridge, stop in.

When we were sophomores at CRLS the parties would get broken up around midnight, so the large majority of us would call charlies kitchen for a take out double cheeseburger (only $3) and scarf that down before calling it a night and getting home before curfew. As we got older we would go in and sit at the booths around 1:30am because it was the only place in "da bridge" that was open for cheap eats... the only other option would be driving to IHOP on Soldiers Field Road. Boooo. Now im out of college and my friends and I still hang out there for a few beers and a burger every now and again. If the Harvard kids would just go to John Harvards like theyre supposed to it would be a lot cooler... but you cant always get what you want, so despite the Harvard Blowhards wreckin the vibe, i give it 2 thumbs up for standing the test of time.

I had my nose pierced by Owen and it was really quite painless. He makes sure that you are comfortable, and he explains the process to you before he does anything. Also, they are great about giving instructions on follow up care. The people at the front desk were really nice as well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone getting a piercing.

I wanted something VERY different from my long and scraggly hair, but was unsure what would suit my face. Kristen (the owner) went to work. Result? THE BEST haircut ever! Short, sassy, sophisticated and it has held its shape beautifully after several washings. She is confident, not pushy, friendly, knows her stuff, and I cannot recommend her more highly. She also did a great job with the hair coloring as well. It's a small local place, but don't be fooled. She's as good as (better!) than the local snobby salons, and the experience was much more real and pleasant.

Top notch work, and one of the few places that will give you a proper straight blade clean up around the edges. I didn't think they talked too much, but they certainly do listen when I tell them how I want it cut. I've been recommending them to my friends ever since my first cut there -- and all for thirteen bucks.

It was a very bad day when I called the Salon to make an appointment THAT day for a haircut having been referred by a friend. As some of you may know, that can be a dangerous move. When I arrived, I blurted out in 25 words the falling apart nature of my life in the moment ~ I received an immediate ear, a spontaneous hand massage (with cream), an iced cold can of diet coke, and cookies. That was just the beginning ... I am fussy. I have read the reviews of many many hair stylists in the Boston/Cambridge area. So, between my friend and the other four star reviews, I was confident. But who knew I'd leave with the haircut AND color of my dreams ~ new, but not shocking, Mom ~ I have left the big hair of the 70's, 80's and 90's for a sleeker curly shiny Do! Yes! And you can finally see my face. I feel older (i.e more sophisticated) and younger at the same time. Susan and her assistant Melissa are wonderful people ~ Susan is an artist who explains what she's doing, really cares how it goes, and will do whatever it takes to turn a very bad day into a great one. And that she did!! PS. My 17 year old son commented on my hair. Now, THAT's a miracle. I'm sold. And yes, there is a wonderful shoulder massage as well. Thanks Susan!

Absolutely the best. I lived in Cambridge 30 years ago and I still use ONLY this florist when sending flowers anywhere in eastern MA, southern NH, northern RI. All the high-priced boutique shops are cheap knockoffs of this world class shop. The BEST people work there. Send a cut flower bouquet in a vase (not a cheesy ???arrangement???) and your recipient will be breathless. The flowers look like a renaissance still life - a work of art. You can???t go wrong.
