City DescriptionBrockton is a city in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. The population size was recorded as 94,304 in the 2000 census; the size has roughly stayed about the same since. The city and Plymouth are the county seats of Plymouth County. Brockton is the 6th largest city in Massachusetts and is sometimes referred to the "City of Champions", mainly due to the success of native boxers Rocky Marciano and Marvin Hagler, as well as its successful Brockton High School sports programs.
In 1649, Ousamequin (Massasoit) sold the surrounding land, then known as Saughtucket, to Myles Standish as an addition to Duxbury. Brockton was part of this area, which the English renamed Bridgewater, until 1821, when it became the town of North Bridgewater. Its name changed in 1874, after a contentious process finally decided on naming it after Isaac Brock, after a local merchant heard of Brockville, Ontario, on a trip to Niagara Falls. The town of Brockton became a city on April 9, 1881. During the American Civil War, Brockton was America's largest producer of shoes, and until the latter parts of the 20th century Brockton had a large shoe and leather products industry.

is there any job openings for a 15 year old who lives in Brockton Massachusetts? Question: a summer job that pays good
Answer:
Have you checked with the local school system and Brockton town hall?? I did a quick web search to see if I could find if they offered the resources many towns do, and although I found a few useful links I didn't see that. But doesn't mean they don't. I know my town and many others keep a list of teens willing to work, and some have job pairing programs. I'd at least call, and if they don't they likely know any programs out there.
That said I found 2 links to check out, one hopefully very helpful and the other kinda depressing. The good one is a site that lists jobs for students and teens by area. Here is the link for MA and just click Brockton. Might also want to check nearby towns. I know there is a Christmas Tree Shop nearby in Avon that is always hiring. Not sure their age limit, but worth checking into. http://www.groovejob.com/browse/jobs/in/MA/Massachusetts/
Now this is the not so positive article, but it is a bit old. And if you turn it around there are many companies listed, some that clearly hire in that age group. So it might be a good resource that way;
http://www.enterprisenews.com/articles/2004/05/22/news/ne ws/news02.txt
Last, not sure if this is worth checking out since its very old, but might be worth checking to see if there is any similar program currently in Brockton;
http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/99-141.html
They did really add on to the mall there, plus there are tons of markets so those are always good places to start. And even if they don't pay great, bet if you do a good job that might be negotiable soon. I've heard how the markets tend to start out new baggers, stockers etc very low because they get so many that only stay a week or so and don't do their job. But if you/they get in and do a good job bet it gets better soon (not neccessary really good...but better lol).
And I'd also suggest checking the Enterprise and also the bulletin boards at the major markets. Not always that many jobs posted, but worth taking a quick look when there!
Best of luck!!!!

Anyone knows the situations on proposed motorcycle bans in Chicago and Springfield, Illinois? Question: RECENT AMA STATEMENT: The AMA has fought motorcycle bans in St. Louis, Detroit, Brockton, Massachusetts, and Springfield, Illinois. The foundation for each was tied to excessive noise. More recently we have confronted proposed motorcycle prohibitions in Chicago and New York City. Motorcycle noise, again, was the justification for these proposals.
Answer:
Some people that ride bikes are kind of assholes. If the other riders before you were assholes, that's how you'll be percieved on a motorcycle. So, if you don't want a lot of ordinances passed etc, it's important that people see you as a law-abiding traffic participant, so no 100MPH wheelies down main street, no straight pipes etc. Some guys ride these choppers and they LIKE the fact that they're rattling somebody's cage just by driving by. That's part of their 'thing'. If you're just trying to get from A to B on 2 wheels, steer clear of the whole 'image' thing. Get a bike that doesn't say 'outlaw' etc. Get one that says 'commuter'...and don't be out there doing a buck-thirty, either...

bartending schools in Massachusetts? Question: Can someone tell me where to find a good bartending school in the southeastern part of Massachusetts I found one online on probarschool.com and its in Brockton MA, but i dont know if this is a scam because they are charging around $400 for the classes so if anyone knows a good bartending school in southeastern mass please let me know
Answer:
The important thing to consider when choosing a bartending school is to (a) make sure they are certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, (b) the course includes T.I.P.S. (Training for Intervention Procedures by Servers) so you will have your certificate to ensure you get a job when you complete cours and finally, (3) that the tuition covers everything (that is: no additional or "hidden" costs).
There is a school in Hyannis. Tuition is $310.

Answer:
One of the best photography schools in the nation is located in Massachusetts. I am willing to bet that they are always looking for models to experiment with and you might get a good portfolio that way. If you are too far away, a phone call would probably get you a referral to someone excellent who is near you.

Can you Sum up this dramatic true life story? Question: Deana Brisbois was a creative, athletic and energetic 23-year-old woman from Topsfield, MA. She lived life to the fullest - at her happiest when at the hub of constant activity and commotion. Friends and family remember her as a beautiful young woman with the ability to makes friends in an instant with her engaging personality, ever-present sense of humor and heart of gold. In April of 1994, she lost her life in a car-crash near Brockton, MA. Deana had been in an abusive relationship for two years before her death. Her abuser was with her in the car when it crashed-but fled the scene-waiting over nine hours before he sought emergency treatment and claiming he fled the wreck in a panic. After Deana's death, her abuser was subsequently jailed for two years on unrelated assault and battery charges (32 charges from five Massachusetts counties).Though Deana's abuser was never charged with her death, her mother and stepfather, Mary Ellen and Ira Gorfinkle, and friends believe he played a role. A series of incidents-now a matter of public record-provide solid evidence of a pattern of abuse. Deana had taken out an emergency restraining order against him in 1993 after being hit. Peabody police charged the abuser with trying to run a car off the road in which Deana and another man were passengers. She sought emergency care after being thrown out of his moving car. Mary Ellen never witnessed the abuse, but was horrified when she saw the bruises he left on Deana's body-like the cruel bite mark left on her cheek, and the results of a "haircut" when he whacked off chunks of Deana's hair with a knife. When Deana finally admitted to the abuse, her family and friends urged her to get help. Deana talked with counselors, clergy, countless friends, doctors, lawyers, family members, and even other abused women. She left him several times, only to return when he apologized-certain that he would change.Before Deana's death, Mary, Ira, her twin brother David Brisbois, Pat Lucy, Christine (Crippen) Champeau, Laura Sindoni, and other friends thought dating violence was something that happened to other people.Faced with the hard truth-that relationship violence knows no boundaries- Deana's family and friends held a golf tournament in August 1994 to raise money in her memory. They founded Deana's Fund and donated the money raised to women's shelters. The golf tournament became an annual event, and in 1995 the organization supported the development of a play to PREVENT dating violence. The play was called The Yellow Dress.
Answer:
Why haven't they charged the abuser with her death. Isn't there enough evidence to convict him. This man should be tortured like Deanna was. I know its too late now but she should have never went back to him. Women need to learn to stay strong. Sorry is only a word. Actions are what count.
