Adams estate in Ouincy, Massachusetts, was called?
Answer:
The Adams estate was called PEACEFIELD. John Adams wrote that he selected the name "in commemoration of the peace which I assisted in making in 1783, of the thirteen years peace and neutrality which I have contributed to preserve, and of the constant peace and tranquility which I have enjoyed in this residence.”
In 1787, John and Abigail Adams purchased Peacefield, then an estate of 40 acres of orchards and farmland. They enlarged the manor house into a rambling farmhouse with wing additions surrounded by a formal garden. Adams described the estate as "the farm of a patriot."

How did andrew Jackson‘s background differ from that of the president who came before him? Question: 2.With the exception of john Adams and john Quincy Adams of Massachusetts, all of the previous presidents before Jackson were Virginia planters of significant wealth. How did Jackson‘s background differ from that of the president who came before him? Describe Jackson’s early years and what Marszalek calls the “Defining Moment” in his life.
Answer:
He came from more modest means, but he was not 'poor.'
Though he could barely read law, he found he knew enough to become a young lawyer on the frontier. Most of the actions grew out of disputed land-claims, or from assaults and battery. He was elected as Tennessee's first Congressman, upon its statehood in the late 1790s, and quickly became a U.S. Senator in 1797 but resigned within a year. In 1798, he was appointed judge on the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Jackson became a colonel in the Tennessee militia, which he had led since the beginning of his military career in 1801.

How hard is it to get accepted into UMass Amherst? Question: No one seems agreed on this subject. I am a Massachusetts resident with a B+ average, 1940 sat (out of 2400) and I got the Abigail Adams scholarship for tuition to any state school. I REALLY want to go to UMass Amherst. Some people say it's really hard to get into but others claim it's a breeze.
Any UMassers out there who can tell me the real deal?
Answer:
People in Massachusetts often seem to think that UMass is easy to get into. I think they're jaded by all the Harvards and MITs that are there, and they look at UMass and go "Oh, state school, easy." But UMass Amherst actually is quite competitive to get into. The average applicant for a freshman spot has about a 3.4, 3.5 GPA in high school. Their average SAT scores range about:
Critical Reading: 510-620
Math: 530-640
Writing: 570-660
With your grades and SAT scores, I think you'll get in. In addition, ask about their honors program. I did that program, and it's really nice. Smaller classes, etc. Very cool. ETA: actually, I've found a link, below.
UMass Amherst has a lot to offer. I'm so glad that I went there. Like you, I got my tuition paid for, so it was a sweet deal.

Sam Adams Extreme Beer Outlawed in 7 states, is MA one of them? Question: The brewery is based in MA and for some reason web sites won't ship alcohol to me even when I send in my Rhode Island state idea, I am trying to buy these Limited Edition beers along with a bottle of Sam Adam's Utopia which is illegal in 7 states (seriously, look it up) Long story short, I live in Rhode Island and Massachusetts is about 7 minutes away and I can't find this beer anywhere. And I can't get it shipped! How can they make it here if they don't plan on serving it here, I'm having trouble understanding this, Sam Adams is a New England thing.
http://www.luxist.com/2005/07/13/sam-adams-limited-edit ion-utopia-beer/
Answer:
Here is the answer I gave another person who asked something similar to your question.
First off, Utopias will only be available in: Chicago, Denver-Boulder, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Detroit, Boston metro area, New York, Hartford (Conn.), Rhode Island, Long Island, Burlington (Vt.), Springfield (Mass.), Monmouth-Ocean City (N.J.), Albany (N.Y.) metro area, New Haven (Conn.), Augusta-Waterville (Me.), Portland (Me.), Stamford-Norwalk (Conn.), Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Sacramento, Washington D.C., and Baltimore.
Anywhere else, you will have to special order it. For some reason, due to legal restrictions, Samuel Adams Utopias can not be sold in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Washington, and West Virginia.
Samuel Adams Utopias has been brewed in two small limited batches to date. The first batch which was released in 2001 as Samuel Adams Utopias MMII topped out at 24% ABV, while the second batch which was released in 2003 as Samuel Adams Utopias pushed the alcohol to 25.6% ABV. Both batches were released only once and in limited quantities. In other words, they will never release the same batch more than once.
Before Utopia, Sam Adams had another liquor based beer called Millenium, once Millenium sold out in stores, they began selling online for around 1,000 per bottle. So the safest thing to do now, is either pay a bit more for a bottle already released. If you are determined to pay only retail, just pay attention to samadams.com and keep an eye out for if/when they release another batch. Once you know the date, then you need to go to a specialty liquor store and reserve a bottle. If you cannot purchase it in your state, then you're simply going to have to buy from an out of state dealer.
Hope that helps a bit.

Does anyone agree with Planned Parenthood founder & KKK fan Magarat Sanger's view of eugenics and abortion? Question: "We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members." Margaret Sanger's December 19, 1939 letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble, 255 Adams Street, Milton, Massachusetts.

Could this happen to the Democratic Party? A Repeat of 1824? Question: The election was a contest between:
General Andrew Jackson of Tennessee, a charismatic hero of the War of 1812, a former United States Representative, and a then-current United States Senator from Tennessee.
John Quincy Adams of Massachusetts, son of former President John Adams, former member of the Federalist Party, former United States Minister to Russia, one of the drafters of the Treaty of Ghent, former United States Senator from Massachusetts, and the then-current Secretary of State.
William H. Crawford of Georgia, former United States Minister to France, former United States Senator from Georgia, former Secretary of War, and the then-current Secretary of the Treasury.
Henry Clay of Kentucky, the “Great Compromiser,” and the then-current Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.
In 1822, Jackson was nominated for president by the legislature of Tennessee; a convention of Pennsylvanian Democratic-Republicans nominated Jackson in 1824. The traditional Congressional caucus nominated Crawford for president and Albert Gallatin for vice president, but it was sparsely attended and was widely attacked as undemocratic. Gallatin later withdrew from the contest for the vice presidency. In 1823, Crawford suffered a stroke. Even though he recovered in 1824, this crippled his bid for the presidency. Also, John Quincy Adams had more support than Henry Clay because of the huge popularity he had among the old Federalist voters in New England; by now, the Adams family too had united with the Democratic-Republican Party.
The election was more a contest of favorite sons than a conflict over policy, as the candidates were backed by different sections of the country: Adams was strong in the Northeast, Jackson in the South and mid-Atlantic, Clay in parts of the West, and Crawford on the Southeastern seaboard.
None of the four presidential candidates received a majority of the electoral vote (thats more than a simple majority), so the presidential election was decided by the House of Representatives.
The presidential election was thrown to the U.S. House of Representatives. As per the Twelfth Amendment, only the top three candidates in the electoral vote were candidates in the House: Andrew Jackson, John Quincy Adams, and William Harris Crawford.
Left out was Henry Clay, who happened to be Speaker of the House. Clay detested Jackson and had said of him, “I cannot believe that killing 2,500 Englishmen at New Orleans qualifies for the various, difficult, and complicated duties of the Chief Magistracy.”
Moreover, Clay's American System was far closer to Adams' position on tariffs and internal improvements than Jackson's or Crawford's, so Clay threw his support to Adams, who had many more votes than Clay. John Quincy Adams was elected President on February 9, 1825, on the first ballot.
Adams' victory shocked Jackson, who, as the winner of a plurality of both the popular and electoral votes, expected to be elected president.
When President Adams appointed Clay his Secretary of State, he essentially declared him heir to the Presidency, as Adams and his three predecessors had all served as Secretary of State. Jackson and his followers accused Adams and Clay of striking a “corrupt bargain”. The Jacksonians would campaign on this claim for the next four years, ultimately attaining Jackson's victory in the Adams-Jackson rematch in 1828.
The ultimate result was the demise of the Democratic-Republican party and the creation of the Democratic party .
Could this happen to the Dems again if they continue to be divided?
Answer:
I think the history is very interesting and you have put it together well, but if you are looking for parallels, then 1968 may be a better one, if Obama is denied the nomination provided he has won the popular vote.
