    I live in Maryland (Chevy Chase) on the 6th floor of a 9 floor condo. Am I reqd by law to have a range hood?

    The existing appliance is a range with above range microwave combo, both using same 220v electric power. There is no electrical outlet where a modern (separate) above range microwave would be mounted. It would cost nearly a $1000 to install an outlet running over 20 feet to a junction box elsewhere in the condo...and drywalling. Money I don't want to spend. Thanks for any quick responses!     Good idea as long as there is an overcurrent protection device at the 'split' to protect the new 120v circuit. This device would need to be rated at either 15a (14ga wire) or 20a (12ga wire). Would this installation be safe? Basically yes. Kosher w/all applicable codes/standards? Prolly not...

    There is a bus that departs I believe 5 days a week from the curb outside of the New Yorker Hotel at 34th and 8th run by a company that has a web site; washingtondelux.com Runs both ways. The cost round trip is something like 35 dollars, which is a steal. The trip takes about 4 and a half hours, with one stop in MD before arriving in downtown DC, about a block from a metro stop. All in all, a very convenient and cheap way to get between the two cities.
