The community is known for its rolling hills and breath taking views of the surrounding communities. Development around the Capitol Heights Metro Station has medical facilities and eataries to support the community. The community has a station off of the Washington Metro subway system called the Capitol Heights Metro Station. The Washington Redskins football stadium is just to the east of Capitol Heights, near the Capital Beltway (I-95/495) and Hampton Mall shopping center which has a new hotel and eateries.

Capitol Heights is located at 38°52′55″N, 76°54′52″W (38.881862, -76.914474).
