City DescriptionBrunswick is a city in Frederick County, Maryland, United States. The population was 4,894 at the 2000 census. The population was estimated to be at 5,230 in July 2006.
The area now known as Brunswick was originally home to the Susquehanna Indians of the Iroquois tribe. In 1728 the first settlement was built, and the region became known as Eel Town, because the natives would fish for eel in the Potomac River. A grant to the land was then given to John Hawkins by George II of Great Britain on August 10, 1753. The land was sold and Leonard Smith platted it in 1787 with the name of “Berlin,” as many Germans settled in the area. The name “Berlin” however, could not be used for mail as there was already a Berlin on the east coast of Maryland, so the post office changed the name to "Barry." The town continued to grow and was incorporated April 18th, 1890 with the name “Brunswick.”
Established along the now-defunct Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, the town became a hub for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, which built a six mile long rail yard along the Potomac from 1891 to 1912, boosting the population to over 5,000, and making Brunswick a company town. It now is home to a commuter rail ... Read MoreCity Contained By:Timezones:- North American Eastern Time Zone

Which college should I go to: University of Maryland, College Park or Rutgers University, New Brunswick? Question: I plan to go into the legal fields and play baseball.
I got accepted to both. I also plan on majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Psychology.
Answer:
I would say it is close but I might have to pick Maryland (and I went to Rutgers). I think the deciding factor is that a lot of the criminal are in Newark and not New Brunswick (but that might have changed).
The ACC is better than the Big East in Baseball, but I think Maryland is at the bottom of the ACC (the schools in the south with the better weather are much better). Rutgers tends to be at the top of the big east in baseball. So do you want to be top in an ok conference, or bottom in a great conference.

does anyone know any good riding/lessons stables?? Question: in/near Lovettsville,Virginia or Brunswick,Maryland?? For English or Western Riding...or jumping?
and does anyone know any good[maybe kinda cheap] horse trainers..like western&english training?
Answer:
Start calling barns around your area and going to visit them to form your own opinions about them. Horsefinder is a good way to find horses and other horse people that may be able to help you on the Internet. Talk to people you know who ride and definitely decide what discipline this way you can narrow your search down. Hope I helped.

Thoughts on University of Maryland? (UMD/UMCP)? Question: Im a senior in high school and am looking for a pharmacy school to apply to (East Coast). I've been looking at UMD, University of Rhode Island (URI) and Rutgers (New Brunswick). My primary right now is UMD, any opinions or thoughts on the school? (campus, students, academics, activites, ect.) Or any other universities with pharmacy programs on the east coast I should look into? Feel free to post your thoughts.
Answer:
My sister went to pharmacy school at the University of Maryland - Baltimore City. That's where the UMD Pharmacy school was, not on the main College Park Campus.
I also went to UMD, but the main campus in College Park, with a MS in Science.
I personally don't like where the pharmacy school is located, but the other choices (in-state ones for her at that) were VCU, ODU, and one in PA, Temple I think. They were all in bad neighborhoods. Safety was a big concern for her.
She's been working and making lots of money for 15 years, so I guess a UMD degree is a good one!

Navy Federal Credit Union Violation of FRCA? Question: This contact letter is in regards to my consumer loan accounts -01 and -02. I just recently checked my credit report because I am in the market to purchase my first home in Lexington Park, Maryland, and I noticed some disturbing information. It seems that your company reported my on numerous occations for being 30 days late on each loan account. This information is false, and your company is in direct violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The reason these accounts were reported as late, according to your customer service, is this is the time that I requested a one month grace period because my mother died in September of 2004, and I had to pay for the funeral service. My father passed on a few months later in February of 2005. I notified all my creditors and told them of the situation and was given a payment plan. The extention from your company was granted from the Branch Manager in Brunswick, Maine. All the payments that I made after that were paying the previous month
Answer:
Pay off the account and close it. Wait 30 days or so. Then send in a dispute letter to the 3 credit bureaus - not to Navy Fed. Tell them your name, ssn, address, acct name and #, and that you are disputing the account payment history. THAT'S ALL - don't tell them anything else yet.
In a week or so you will get a confirmation letter and in 30-45 days you will get a response letter. When you get their results, find another fault with the account (just the truth please) and dispute it again. If Navy Fed does not respond in time (30 days), the account gets deleted.
This is what we call a rolling late payment - you were late ONCE but the creditor is reporting every payment as a late payment. It may be legal, but it isn't ACCURATE and that it your basis for disputing the account.
Good Luck

Insurance Commissioner Matthew Denn urged consumers Friday to call their legislators to express support for Senate Bill 31. The News Journal MATTHEW JONAS
Sen. Margaret Rose Henry said a similar bill got "halfway" to passing last year.
Fighting an uphill battle against powerful lobbyists, state legislators are trying again this year to ban insurance companies from using credit scores to set auto and homeowner insurance premiums in Delaware.
"Credit scoring is wrong. It's unnecessary and unfair," Delaware Insurance Commissioner Matthew Denn said at a press conference Friday to drum up support for the legislation. He urged Delawareans to call their legislators in support of the bill, which the insurance industry will likely oppose. "The insurance lobbyists ... will do what they need to do and spend what they need to spend" to keep the bill from passing, he said.
Sponsored by state Sens. Margaret Rose Henry, D-Wilmington East, Harris B. McDowell III, D-Wilmington North, and Rep. Helene M. Keeley, D-Wilmington South, Senate Bill 31 would ban all use of credit scores in setting auto and homeowner insurance rates.
Credit scoring -- the use of credit history to evaluate policyholders and review new applicants -- "is a bad thing, period," said Henry. The practice hurts minorities and blue-collar workers, and can be a problem for many people who have errors on their credit reports.
A similar bill last year passed the Senate but was never brought up for a vote in the House of Representatives. The latest proposal is more restrictive than last year's bill, which allowed the use of credit scores in setting new policies but banned their use in renewals, Henry said.
"We were halfway there last year. Hopefully it will pass both houses this session," said Henry.
Consumer advocates expressed support for the legislation and criticized insurance companies' widespread use of credit scores.
"Your auto insurance premium should be based on your history as a driver," said John Flaherty, lobbyist for Common Cause of Delaware. He said 90 percent of insurers use credit scores.
"It is clear to us that there is no relationship between an individual's credit rating and driving ability," said Mark Brunswick of the A. Philip Randolph Institute of Delaware, a black labor group. The use of credit scoring often hurts the poor, who end up subsidizing the lower premiums of affluent drivers, Brunswick said.
The insurance industry says credit scoring models actually help keep premiums down overall.
"The more variables you have to underwrite in price, the more accurate you can be in pricing," said Jeff Junkas, spokesman for the American Insurance Association, which represents about 400 insurance companies nationwide.
The score can't predict car accidents, he said, but "credit-based insurance scores do predict the likelihood that a claim will be filed and how high those claims will be," he said. "We don't know why it works, but it does work."
Only four states totally ban the use of credit scores in setting insurance premiums, said Junkas. California bans their use in setting auto premiums, Maryland bans their use for homeowners insurance, and Massachusetts and Hawaii ban credit scoring for both
Answer:
It's absolutley true that insurance companies use your credit rating to determine your premium. Now, what your credit rating has to do with the likelyhood you'll have an accident is beyond me. It isn't fair.
There's legislation in the Delaware legislature to ban the use of credit scores toward premiums. It's failed several times because lobbyists from the industry.
