City DescriptionBowie (pronounced /ˈbuːi/) is a city in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 50,269 at the 2000 census. Bowie has grown from a small railroad stop to the largest municipality in Prince George's County, and the fifth most populous city and third largest city by area in the State of Maryland.
The city of Bowie owes its existence to the railway. In 1853, Col. William Duckett Bowie obtained a charter from the Maryland legislature to construct a rail line into Southern Maryland. In 1869 the Baltimore & Potomac Railroad Company began the construction of a railroad from Baltimore to Southern Maryland. The area had already been dotted with small farms and large tobacco plantations in an economy based on agriculture and slavery. In 1870 Ben Plumb, a land speculator and developer, sold building lots around the railroad junction and named the settlement Huntington City. By 1872, the line was completed, together with a spur to Washington DC. The remainder of the railroad through Southern Maryland and Pope's Creek was completed in 1873.

Also, Im thinking of getting a Honda crf100f. Is this a good bike? Is this worth the price or is there somthing better. I am 12 years old by the way.

i live in northern va. the only place i have found is in george washington forest. its free and plenty of trail. there is a place called gore that sounds good but it costs money. never been there though. out in wv theres some good places too.

Which city is the better place to live Laurel or Bowie Maryland?

I am considering moving to one of the two cities to live. I do not have any kids, but I do have a large dog to consider. So any information about rentals, things to do, resturants, neighborhoods or anything at all would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has any opinions about near by cities or towns that are also nice I am open to suggestions. I will be working in Brentwood so I would like to keep my travel time under 30 minutes.

I think both towns themselves are similar, so the major difference is that
Laurel is closer to Baltimore
Bowis is closer to Annapolis
Both are equidistant from Washington.
I would pick Bowie because Baltimore is such a large town that you are GOING to take some extra time to get in and out, so the extra drive from Bowie won't make that much difference. But if you want to bop into Annapolis for dinner, it's easy from Bowie, considerably longer from Laurel. Does that make sense?

1st, a track is only good if you plan on competing. If you don't have the practice in, this would be really unwise! Try checking w/ local landowners that have undeveloped land (one that rides him/herself is even better) and get permission. If your as young as I think you are, then maybe you could trade odd jobs (lawn mowing etc.) for ride permission. If you see someone riding in a feild, stop and ask. Worst they could say is no. I am really looking for any information dealing with rentals, particularly townhouse rentals, rentals that allow pets (I have a 120 pd choc lab very well trained), the good and bad areas of Bowie as well as any positive or negative things about Bowie in general, resturants, and or the surrounding areas of Bowie that may also be nicer places to live. I've heard that Laurel is also very nice. Any information about anything would be greatly appreciated.

you should move into collington town houses my dad is putting up a house for rent around therre and i lives there for years. most of the town houses have 3 bedrooms and the only problems are parking if you have more than to 2 cars or guest parking. in general bowies nice a lot of giants in the area very easy to get around with the metro and the mall its filled with senior citizens and children. very peaceful nobody every gets on the radio and say their from bowie lol. if you have kids laurel is is probably not a good p;ace for you because laurel high school is not agood school but bowies crowded anyway its very convient to get around. the less bad places in bowie is in the area down benjamin tasker mid. school its quiet a little sometimes i catch myself looking for activity to go on, nothing bad but i feel guilty to sit on my steps. we have ruby tuesdays, chinese resturants the bowie town center, a lot of Giants etc. A lot of friendly ol white and black people and spanish peeps

A friend's two kids go there and love it. I believe there is an entrance exam and that it's hard for kids to get in if they don't start at pre-K. The only complaint I have heard is that it is such a tight community that everyone knows everyone else's business.
