I went to Benkay for the first time and I had their Shrimp tempura roll and their spicy scallop roll. They were both very good. The both have just enough spice to them but are not to hot. I will be going back often to try other things on the menu. Until next time...

I absolutely love this place. I think I could eat only this the rest of my life. Amazing fresh and quality ingredients also organic. They also have great daily specials like tomato basil and fresh sliced mozarella flatbread. My ultimate favorite is Jays Heart topped with Kalamata olives. YUMMY! :) Disadvantage: Sometimes you have to be willing to wait. There are a lot of people who come here to eat especially on the weekends. They can only fit so many flatbreads in the fired-lit oven.

We arrived at 10:00 after spending eight hours in the car for a trip that usually takes 3-1/2 hours. As we checked-in and asked if there were any resturants open the head chef overheard the conversation and volunteered to keep the kitchen open for us. Receiving outstanding service such as this relaxed us after the nerve racking drive and contributed to a great weekend.

I love Brian Boru. They have great live music Thursday-Saturday. Its a two-level bar with a very large deck off the second floor and a fenced in area with picnic tables off the first floor. The menu was recently changed and its better than ever. True Irish Pub food. Bartenders are very attentive no matter how busy it gets (and it does get busy especially after a show or hockey game at the civic center). Bands play on the second floor and theres plenty of room to dance. Also they are not stingy on their drinks be prepared to leave a bit tipsy.

I have visted many thai restaurants in Portland and this by far is the best one! The atmosphere is great beer and wine is not over priced and the food is amazing. The staff are ALL very friendly. However it is unfortunate that they are only open Tuesday- Saturday.

The owner of this restaurant is one of the nicest people around. He is a really great guy the service is very efficient and the food is excellent. The sushi is always fresh the menu has a lot of choices and they offer some unique dishes as well not found in other local Japanese restaurants. I tried the Lobster Kampai which starts with lobster sashimi followed by cooked lobster maki rolls and finished with an absolutely incredible lobster soup with the rest of the lobster. The soup itself should be on the menu as a separate item it is just sooooo good. This is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Portland.

Big fat leather couches fireplaces roaring drinks pouring food with flair right on the waterfront watching the water taxis and other large watercraft go by. Hor doeuvres for us consisted of brie served in puff pastry astride a balsamic glaze. I had the Dublin Lawyer - lobster served in the shell with cream and herbs seated atop zucchini seated atop white beans.

Bingas has great wings no doubt. Dont even think about ordering the ribs though. Got them to go and they were terrible. They were dry and covered with a thick salty pasty rub. Could not even eat one. Friend who ordered the same had the same reaction. Stick to wings.

Unbelievable food and in Portland Maine no less. Salad drinks main course dessert and coffee and tip for 2 ran $90. The penne arrabiata (spicy marinara) was incredible and a HUGE portion. The homemade white bean and romano ravioli was unique tasty and you could tell it was homemade. If we didnt live in Connecticut we would frequent this restaurant. Part of its charm is the intimate setting there are only 10 tables or so so you can hear everything your fellow diners are saying but the food was delicious.

The Dogfish Cafe with its great service and food has been a favorite with us for years . Our last visit was discouraging though. It wasnt busy and we were seated immediately. The young man who seated us after mentally reviewing several choices gave us the wrong name for our server so I was somewhat embarrassed to address her by a name not her own. I ordered a Manhattan (hardly an exotic drink) to start and was served some clear mystery concoction. She took it back without demur but excused the mistake by saying the bar staff was new. My simple hamburger was made even simpler by omitting the lettuce tomato and onion that the menu promised. Also by ordering a side salad somehow that eliminated the fries that should have accompanied the hamburger. As we had a guest with us and a concert to attend later I didnt make a public fuss just a mental note. Ive compared notes with friends who are also patrons and the concensus is that standards have slipped. There is so much competition for restaurants in the area -- its a shame to see a nice small local establishment in decline after such a promising beginning.

Best Thai in Portland. Try Seng Thai 2 around the corner on Congress where the original restaurant was... fresh fabulous and served by a really nice family. (Sit down meals go to St.John St. take out go to Congress... my preference anyway.)
