City Description

Turkey Creek is a village in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 356 at the 2000 census. Turkey Creek is located at 30°52′46″N 92°24′34″W / 30.87944, -92.40944 (30.879393, -92.409464). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 6.4 km² (2.5 mi²), all land. As of the census of 2000, there were 356 people, 125 households, and 98 families residing in the village. The population density was 55.4/km² (143.7/mi²). There were 148 housing units at an average density of 23.0/km² (59.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 95.51% White, 1.40% African American, 1.40% Native American, 0.28% Asian, and 1.40% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.28% of the population. There were 125 households out of which 45.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.6% were married couples living together, 7.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.8% were non-families. 18.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.85 and the average family size was 3.26. In the village the
