Tickfaw is located at 30°34′35″N 90°29′14″W / 30.57639, -90.48722 (30.576266, -90.487259).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 4.1 km² (1.6 mi²), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 617 people, 241 households, and 166 families residing in the village. The population density was 150.8/km² (389.7/mi²). There were 261 housing units at an average density of 63.8/km² (164.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 86.71% White, 11.51% African American, 0.65% Native American, and 1.13% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.54% of the population.
There were 241 households out of which 36.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.1% were married couples living together, 11.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.1% were non-families. 26.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
