City DescriptionRichwood is a town in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 2,115 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Monroe Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Richwood is located at 32°27′35″N 92°4′31″W / 32.45972, -92.07528 (32.459587, -92.075184).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,115 people, 558 households, and 410 families residing in the town. The population density was 918.3 people per square mile (355.0/km²). There were 627 housing units at an average density of 272.2/sq mi (105.3/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 10.87% White, 88.23% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.57% Asian, and 0.28% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.80% of the population.
There were 558 households out of which 39.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 31.7% were married couples living together, 36.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.5% were non-families. 22.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
