City DescriptionParadis is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,252 at the 2000 census. Its name is French for "paradise."
Paradis is located at 29°52′40″N 90°26′8″W / 29.87778, -90.43556 (29.877743, -90.435598).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,252 people, 438 households, and 342 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 953.8 people per square mile (369.0/km²). There were 476 housing units at an average density of 362.6/sq mi (140.3/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 92.25% White, 4.87% African American, 0.56% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 0.88% from other races, and 1.04% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.40% of the population.
There were 438 households out of which 43.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.8% were married couples living together, 12.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.7% were non-families. 16.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.9% had someone living alone who ...
