    Moss Bluff is a census-designated place (CDP) in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 10,535 at the 2000 census. Located just north of the city of Lake Charles, it is considered a suburb of that city. Moss Bluff is a burgeoning community, one of the few populations in Calcasieu Parish experiencing growth. Moss Bluff is located at 30°18′36″N 93°12′17″W / 30.31, -93.20472 (30.310003, -93.204753). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 15.8 square miles (41.0 km²), of which, 15.2 square miles (39.4 km²) of it is land and 0.6 square miles (1.6 km²) of it (3.98%) is water. Moss Bluff is intersected by Louisiana Highway 171 and Louisiana Highway 378. As of the census of 2000, there were 10,535 people, 3,711 households, and 3,017 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 692.6 people per square mile (267.4/km²). There were 3,984 housing units at an average density of 261.9/sq mi (101.1/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 92.04% White, 5.89% African American, 0.39% Native American, 0.45% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.47% from other races, and 0.76% from two or more races.
