City Description

McNary is a village in Rapides Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is part of the Alexandria, Louisiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 211 at the 2000 census. McNary is located at 30°59′26″N 92°34′30″W / 30.99056, -92.575 (30.990590, -92.574994). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 4.8 km² (1.9 mi²). 4.7 km² (1.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (2.15%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 211 people, 76 households, and 56 families residing in the village. The population density was 44.8/km² (116.1/mi²). There were 93 housing units at an average density of 19.7/km² (51.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 85.31% White, 10.43% African American, 0.47% Native American, 0.95% Asian, 2.84% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.95% of the population. There were 76 households out of which 40.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.2% were married couples living together, 10.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.3% were non-families. 23.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of
