City DescriptionHaughton is a town in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 2,792 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Shreveport–Bossier City Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Haughton is located at 32°31′48″N 93°30′23″W / 32.53, -93.50639 (32.530016, -93.506350).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 4.2 square miles (10.9 km²), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,792 people, 1,038 households, and 782 families residing in the town. The population density was 661.4 people per square mile (255.4/km²). There were 1,169 housing units at an average density of 276.9/sq mi (107.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 76.29% White, 20.74% African American, 0.36% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.47% from other races, and 1.97% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.36% of the population.
There were 1,038 households out of which 40.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.5% were married couples living together, 16.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.6% were non-families. 20.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.6% had someone living alone who was ...
