City DescriptionHackberry is a census-designated place (CDP) in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,699 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lake Charles Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Hackberry is located at 29°59′11″N 93°23′50″W / 29.98639, -93.39722 (29.986485, -93.397190).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 93.7 square miles (242.7 km²), of which, 82.2 square miles (213.0 km²) of it is land and 11.4 square miles (29.6 km²) of it (12.21%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,699 people, 626 households, and 458 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 20.7 people per square mile (8.0/km²). There were 818 housing units at an average density of 9.9/sq mi (3.8/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 97.53% White, 0.47% African American, 0.29% Native American, 0.71% Asian, 0.53% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.12% of the population.
